Over the last 50 years, from 1963 when it was set up as a
Centre of Excellence in International Trade and Business
till 2012, IIFT has evolved as a top business school and
research institution in the country. With robust
infrastructure, strong faculty and dedication to excellence,
IIFT has emerged as a National Institute for pedagogy and
advocacy. It is a matter of pride for all aspirants to become
a member of IIFT.
Over the 50 glorious years, IIFT has produced
front ranking executives and business & industry leaders. The
IIFT Alumni has spread across the globe from America to
Europe and from Dubai to Singapore. The Alma Mater of IIFT
with their achievements has made all of us proud.
It is widely believed that the real strength of
any business management institution is reflected on its
capacity to secure placement of students. IIFT over the years
has achieved not only 100 per cent placement of its
students, but also with companies of repute and significance.
This is a great complement not only to IIFT but also to the
intelligent and hard working student community who
participated in our programmes.
IIFT has a significant training component
in which IIFT trains the future managers and leaders of the
country. We not only train senior members of IAS, IPS and
other Central Government Services but also the executives of
PSUs including MMTC, STC, etc. besides highly technical
members of Indian Air Force. Our training capabilities have
been nationally recognized.
IIFT has been conferred the status of ‘Deemed
University’
from 2002. IIFT has also diversified its courses starting
from its flagship MBA in International Business which has
become a Degree Programme to MBA (IB) Part Time extending up
to Ph.D. courses. Thus, IIFT today is ready to meet the
challenges of human resource development in Government,
Industry and Academia. Realizing IIFT’s potential, with the
initiative of Government of India, Kolkata Campus has
been started from July, 2006. We also have an International
Centre in Tanzania (Dar-es-salaam) in collaboration with a
local partner. With the help of Ministry of Commerce &
Industry, Government of India, IIFT has established a WTO
Centre which is the sole repository for WTO Secretariat.
The student community of IIFT has been
vibrant and active. They have won laurels in various national
and international fora from time to time. They have brought
glamour and recognition to IIFT. Thus, IIFT is not
only a leading business school in India, but also a Centre
of Excellence in international trade and business besides
being a Research Hub and a Think Tank Institution
